How can I create a pattern from different images diplayed at random?

I'm new to the forum and I know nothing about coding. I need to create a large image from different small images displayed at random, like a pattern. It's part of a project for my dissertation. Here's an example of what I want to achieve. pattern

Clearly I've created this image manually (on Illustrator), but I seek a software (and a code) to do it for me. I hope someone can help me, many thanks in advance for those of you who will try.
