Data Access Object Design Pattern

I am new to java and design patterns, I would like to implement the Data Access Object as explained in http://ift.tt/1qLXv28 with a MySQL data base. I got stuck with figuring out how to implement the code from the StudentDaoImpl.java file. Can anyone assist or guide me on how to implement the code listed on this example to communicate with a MySQL database.
