Are there any books/resources for building c# desktop applications that are not just reference or simple guides to c#

I have built up a good knowledge of c# and now I am ready to develop professional applications in c#, but a lot of books and resources are simple guides to c# or reference books without fully featured applications or prototypes.

I am looking for books which implement design patterns and proper design principles such component systems, event driven mechanics and distributed systems.

I want to avoid ASP.net and focus on desktop applications with windows forms or WPF:-

Examples

  • Notification system for small networks

  • File downloader

  • FTP client

  • Email client

  • System utility such as a file manager or defragmenter tool

I know that there are a lot of projects on Git Hub and other open source repositories but where can I find actual books or reference sites which explain how to build these things.
