What is the best practice for dealing with a ORDER PROCESING ？

ORDER PROCESING is a generalized concept,it can mean all kinds of bussiness logic across network like: sending a phone message via message service provider、requesting for a payment from a payment channel like Google Pay.

There are many papers and materials about technical problem(like Distributed transaction).But when it comes to bussiness problem ,there is little about how to write code for a common bussiness scenes like ORDER PROCESING.

More specifically, what I want is something talks about how to manage an order's life cycle、how to define orderstate,what code component should I write..etc
