what software the film "The Brain Hack" use?

I want to write code to make some Fractal graphics, and I want to achieve the final effect of the film. I don't know how to choose a engine or a kind of program languages could make it easier to me, I don't know how to start.. could anybody give me some advice, please? thanks !
