Microfrontends: how to deal with navigation panes?

So, I think I got the basics of microfrontend design in decomposing my application according to business functionalities but I still can't understand how a navigation pane can be considered in it.

• Is the pane something I should put in the shell app/root page?
• Or is the pane a microfrontend as well delivering a value?

What are the best practices about that?
