Edit: To be more specific, is hadoop developer job more like writing some independent Map/Reduce scripts and then deploying/executing them. How does it fit in the paradigm of application development, is it just limited to coding remote procedure calls and serialization/deserialization OR other concepts are also used widely like OOPS concepts, Design patterns, webservices ,etc which are mostly used in enterprise application development?
I am planning to move from Core Java to either Spring/Hibernate or Hadoop. So i want to know does Hadoop developer job is similar to application development or it is similar to Continuous Integration /Automation scripting type of job. The Edureka website like does show some tasks a Hadoop developer do, and similar stuff here also, but if someone actually working on hadoop can share his experience in some detail, that will be great. It will help in deciding my move and for that matter other people going in same direction. I have worked on automation earlier and it became sort of monotonous job for me after some time writing similar scripts with some customization for different test cases hence i moved to java development. Now before my next move (from java to hadoop or spring/hibernate, whatever i decide.), i want to make sure i do not get into that type of monotonous work again but instead get my hands dirty on some really interesting work.
