How would you design the models of a site like stackoverflow (backend)?

How would you design this site for maximum performance? What would be your class diagram? It would have Users, Tags, Questions, Answers, Comments and the like. What kind of inheritance/composition would you use? SQL vs NoSQL? Which design patterns would you employ?
