Under javascript, does the Prototype design pattern have more of a concern behind data control and manipulation?

I've recently stumbled upon the necessity of the prototype pattern, however, I am still fairly new to design patterns in regards to Javascript. I mostly have a good idea towards the Module and Object Literal patterns, but anything beyond that I am still just learning. So my question is:

• Is the Prototype design pattern more oriented towards data manipulation and control, or is there a way to use them as a way to manage the front of things as well. As far as I know, they're beneficial for the psuedo-inheritance going on and that's about it.
