I can't figure out this pattern in C#

I'm new to StackOverFlow. I'm studying right now for exam in C# language and I can't figure out this diamond pattern that is not filled inside. I know how to write program to draw a diamond pattern that's full of stars inside like this: diamond pattern

But I can't figure out how to make it like this and I've been trying for whole day. It would mean a lot to me if you could help me, I really want to learn for this exam.
