Is Delegation Pattern is a basic & crucial pattern? (excluding JAVA)

I've read that Delegation Pattern used to "Simulate multiple inheritance in JAVA". I wonder what about languages like Cpp which allows us to 'multiple inhertance', is Delegation Pattern still necessary?
