way to protect global data in c++ class

I have lot of global variable(structures,standard datatype variables) present in .cpp file, which are being used across all the class methods. Can any one suggest me to protect the data using any "design pattern". Instead of pushing the data variables into class is there any best way to protect the data? Please suggest
