iOS - Recommended App Architecture

I would like to hear from people about their preferred pattern for architecturing medium to large apps. I'm investigating a pattern called VIPER. This pattern has some great benefits and also some big drawbacks but I would like to hear suggestions from other people on their preferred architectural pattern (even VIPER), why they use it, pros and cons.

Basically I want to get rid of Massive View Controllers in my iOS apps that tend to happen over time and would like to introduce a good pattern to my iOS development team.
