Design Pattern Choice for WinfForm

I really hope this question does not get closed because I am asking for an opinion. I am really hoping there is definitive answer out there.

I am normally a MVC developer. I have a new assignment for a WinForm application. It has been a while since I have worked with desktop applications. Normally, I would use a n-tier approach.

I have seen MVP and it seems a way of emulating MVC for WinForm.

I have 2 days to work out what I should use/know.

Is MVP the way to go or is n-tier just as common to use nowadays?

Or should I keep an open mind and create a pattern to suit once i have the specifications?

Should I just focus on SOLID principles?
